Over 170 photographs of orchids are presented. The limitless variety of colours and shapes have been captured by Taskashi Kijima, a prominent Japanese photographer. The author, P. Francis Hunt, describes the fascination of these flowers to man, their structure, pollination, germination, floral and vegetative features. Further chapters explain the classification and distribution of the 18,000 known orchid species and how orchids are cultivated. A note on the major orchid societies and periodicals completes this publication.
