This book is the outcome of ideas and stimulus the author received from the many interested visitors to the National Orchidarium at Shillong. It is not a book on identification. It includes short descriptions, flowering periods, and distribution of a small, random sample of orchids, in an effort to give an idea of the range of species and diversity found in the Orchidaceae.
