Over 250 colour photos; lists 1019 species in 120 genera known from the Malaysian state. Over 7000 preserved specimens of orchids from this area are housed in herbaria worldwide and these specimens form the basis for this book. About 82% of the species are epiphytic and 21% terrestrial (some species are both epiphytic and terrestrial). Fourteen taxa are saprophytes.
